Who are we?
- TMCA is nonprofit corporation formed in 1979 to promote cruising and related activities. Cruises are organized throughout the year for many destinations on Galveston Bay and Gulf Coast waters. In addition, numerous social events are scheduled, ranging from informal dock parties at local marinas to the Annual Commodore’s Ball.
Education is also an important element of TMCA. Monthly meetings feature educational and entertaining programs, while occasional courses are sponsored on a variety of boating topics. Naturally, the greatest educational benefit comes from participation in club cruises.
Organized cruises are usually overnight weekend adventures on Galveston Bay, although we have ventured as far as Louisiana and Mexico for periods of up to two weeks. Day cruises are also common.
TMCA members include families, couples, and singles - a vital group of people sharing a common interest. We welcome you to our boating community and hope you will get to know our members, most of whom keep their boats in the Clear Lake area.
Who Should Join TMCA?
- Novice or old salt, boat owner or not, anyone with a love for the water will benefit from sharing the experiences and camaraderie provided by TMCA.
What are the Benefits?
- MONTHLY MEETINGS - General meetings feature speakers a programs aimed at enhancing seamanship, boat handling skill, and enjoyment of local waters. Past and upcoming events and cruises are always discussed. There is always time for informal contact with other members for tall tales and sharing of experiences.
SCHEDULED CRUISES - The calendar is filled with more cruises than one can possibly attend, so members simply participate when they can. Galveston Bay can be tricky to navigate, especially to some of the more interesting destinations. The Cruise Leader is usually someone experienced with the destination who knows how to avoid trouble. In case of a breakdown, its reassuring to have others along to help.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS - TMCA presents occasional courses to make members confident and comfortable with their own boating skills. Navigation, piloting, first aid, CPR, and use of the Loran or GPS are a few examples. Some are taught by the USCG Auxiliary, US Power Squadron or the Red Cross.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES - The monthly dock parties, Shrimp Boil, Crawfish Boil, Wine & Cheese Cruise, Theater Cruise, Fajita & Margarita Party, and the elegant Annual Commodore’s Ball are just a few recent functions. The social calendar alone makes the club worth joining!
THE TEXAS MARINER - Our monthly newsletter informs members about future events, cruising adventures, changes in boating laws, maintenance, and other tips.
MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY - An annual directory is published to help you remember your new friends as well as their boat’s name. It includes the annual club calendar.
TMCA WEB PAGE - For current information and reports visit our site at www.tmca.nu. You can also become a member at our web site.
TMCA Discussion Forum - To exchange cruising experiences try out the TMCA Mailing list. To join the TMCA mailing List.

The BOAT U.S. Cooperating Group Program provides all TMCA Members get 50% off when they join Boat U.S. TMCA members pay 1/2 of the regular BoatU.S. dues of $17.00 - only $8.50 a year.
